About the 312F1 ’69-
After the Ferrari Team lost Lorenzo Bandini who died by accident in
the year 1967, the team enhanced the 312F1 to '68 edition and raced for the year
1968. The wing which had been tested in previous year were being installed
starting from this year to provide certain aerodynamics effect. At the time that
other teams were having accidents and troubles during the wing tests due to the
change of regulations, the 312F1 driven by J. Icxx won the French GP.
In the year 1969, despite of the improved engine was more and more powerful and
the wing had been widened, the basic design of the 312 series was using since
1966 and it became too old to compete with their rivals. However, C. Amon was
leading all the time in the Spanish GP (but retired because of the engine
fault), and won the 3rd place in the Dutch GP.
Although the 312F1 series raced from 1966 to 1969 is the slump period of the
Ferrari team, it is the important pieces of the evolving process from 312B
series to its the successor car 312T series of the Scuderia Ferrari
F1 cars.
