HMS Kolkata light cruiser 1/700 - Trumpeter
Calcutta was launched at Vickers Shipyard on 9 July 1918, converted into an anti-aircraft cruiser in 1939, and deployed in the Mediterranean.
On June 25, 1940, Calcutta joined the Canadian destroyers Restigoche and Fraser off the coast of Bordeaux to rescue 4,000 French refugees besieged by German forces. However, due to the strong wind and waves in the sea at that time, the Calcutta and Fraser collided. In the end, the Fraser sank, killing 45 crew members, while the Calcutta also lost 19.
Kolkata was sunk by German Ju-88 bombers in the Mediterranean waters north of Alexandria, Egypt, on 1 June 1941 during the Battle of Crete.
